The Fire Service Society  was founded in 1994 as a charitable not for profit corporation, with a goal of developing sources of funding for fire safety and burn related programs in Ontario.  Founding members of the Society  include representatives from the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs, the Ontario Municipal Fire Prevention Officers  Association, the Ontario Municipal Fire Department Instructors Association, the Firefighters Association of Ontario and the Ontario Retired Fire Chiefs Association.

The Association is dedicated to raising funds to assist in the advancement of research and the development of improved methods of burn treatment, the administration of fire safety programs, fire and burn related educational programs and financial assistance to hospital and clinic burn units.
